Fairness and Accountability
Guided by Compassion

Michael Marsiglia is running for Judge of First Parish Court, Division A because he believes the role of a parish court judge is straightforward and critically important: apply the law fairly, manage cases efficiently, and treat every person who comes before the Court with respect and dignity.

With more than twenty years of experience in civil and criminal courts throughout Jefferson Parish and across Louisiana, Michael brings steady judgment, real-world courtroom experience, and respect for the rule of law. He is not seeking this office to learn on the job — he is seeking it because he is ready to serve.

A Steady Hand for
First Parish Court, Div. A

Traffic Hearing Officer
+
Ad Hoc Justice of the Peace
+
Court Appointed Mediator

Michael has served as a Traffic Hearing Officer for First Parish Court for the past decade. He has also served as an Ad Hoc Justice of the Peace for the Fifth Justice of the Peace Court in Jefferson Parish, in addition to serving as a court-appointed mediator who conducted 300+ mediations. These roles have provided direct, hands-on experience on the bench—presiding over trials, managing dockets, and ensuring proceedings are handled efficiently, professionally, and fairly.

Michael understands that parish court judges must be decisive, even-handed, and prepared every single day.

Experience that Matters

Michael has spent more than two decades working on all sides of the courtroom. As a practicing attorney, he has represented private individuals, businesses, public entities, and governmental institutions with a steadfast commitment to preparation, professionalism, and accountability.

This breadth of experience gives Michael a clear understanding of how judicial decisions affect not just cases, but people, institutions, and the community as a whole.

Michael is frequently appointed as a neutral mediator by courts, including service for the 24th Judicial District Court and the Hurricanes Ida, Laura, and Zeta Streamlined Settlement Programs. In this role, he has conducted more than 300 mediations, helping parties resolve disputes efficiently while ensuring each side has a voice.

This experience reinforces a core principle Michael brings to the bench: fairness and efficiency are not competing values. A well-run courtroom must deliver both.

Rooted in Family
Committed to Community
A Lifetime of Service

Michael’s commitment to fairness, responsibility, and service begins at home with his family. He has been married for twenty years to his wife, Jennifer, and together they are raising their three sons — and three adopted pups — in Jefferson Parish. A lifelong outdoorsman, Michael values time spent with family and friends in the marshes of Southeast Louisiana — experiences that reflect patience, discipline, and respect for tradition. Like many local families, much of their time is spent supporting their children at school and community events.

Michael’s lifelong commitment to the community extends beyond his family life.

As soon as he earned his law degree, Michael put his accreditation to work, volunteering as a pro bono attorney and notary with our underserved population at the Harry S. Thompson Center and mentoring the next generation as the Mock Trial Coach at Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies in Jefferson Parish.

In addition to continuing to coach a high school mock trial team, Michael teaches local law students negotiation and advocacy at Tulane University School of Law.

Michael’s deep commitment to mentoring the next generation extends to our youngest community members as a volunteer sports coach at our local playgrounds. Additionally, Michael has served as a Board Member for the Louisiana Children’s Museum, supporting and advocating for children throughout the area.

In his role as Metropolitan Crime Commission Board Member, Michael has continued his service to the greater metropolitan area. As a board member of this watchdog organization, Michael supports its mission of exposing public corruption and improving the administration of justice in order to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Louisiana.

Michael has committed a lifetime of service to the people of Jefferson Parish. For Michael, family, community, and service are not separate from his professional life. They form the foundation of it.
